August 19, 2011: Special Non-Working Holiday to Quezon, Aurora and Quezon City

 August 19, 2011 was declared  a special non-working holiday in the provinces of Quezon and Aurora and in Quezon City to commemorate the birth anniversary of the former Philippine President Manuel L. Quezon. RA 6741 was approved on August 4, 1989.

Holiday Announcement: August 30, 2011 Declared as a Regular Non-Working Holiday

President Benigno S. Aquino III declared Tuesday, August 30, 2011 as a regular non-working holiday throughout the country in observance in observance of Eid’l Fitr (Feast of Ramadhan). The declaration was done through  Proclamation No.234 which stated that "  to promote cultural understanding and integration, the entire Filipino nation should have the full opportunity to join their Muslim brothers and sisters in the observance and celebration of Eid’l Fitr;" and " in order to bring the religious and cultural significance of the Eid’l Fitr to the fore of national consciousness, it is necessary to declare Tuesday, 30 August 2011, as a regular holiday throughout the country."

Corresponding compensation should be applied to those who are required to render work on this day based on the existing labor law.

Everyone should expect a long weekend this last week of August since August 29 is also a non-working holiday since it is a  " National Heroes Day"

August 3, 2011 Suspension of Classes Update

Parents as well as students in NCR (Metro Manila) and neigboring areas are waiting for the DepED announcement if there will be a suspension of classes tomorrow.


DepEd NCR assistant director Rizalino Rosales noted that the announcement wether there will be suspension of classes will be done at around 4 am on Wednesday and will be based on the assessment of the weather condition. - from TV Patrol, ABS-CBN.

DepEd Announcement: August 2, 2011 Suspension of Classes in NCR (Metro Manila) for Kinder, Elementary and High School Levels

The Department of education has just announced the suspension of classes today, August 2, 2011 to  Kinder, Elementary and High School Levels in NCR (Metro Manila) due to the PAG-ASA's prediction of heavy rainfall.


UPDATES:


CALABARZON: No classes in Calamba City, Rodriguez Rizal and Rosario Cavite today, August 2.


Classes are suspended today, August 2, in San Mateo, Rizal from Preschool to Highschool in all PUBLIC Schools only."


UST, St Paul,San Sebastian classes are suspended


Region 3: No classes in kindergarten & elementary in Macabebe East and West and in Masantol, Kaingin, San Isidro & Sta. Lucia Elem. Schools

Heads of HEIs (Higher Education Institutions) have discretion to cancel classes as per Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memo.


Classes suspended in all levels in University of Santo Tomas, St. Paul University in Quezon City, San Sebastian College in Recto and in PUP as per PUP president Guevarra.


TUP, PNU, PHILSCA, RTU, along w/ PUP, also suspend classes today August 2 according to PASUC VP Dr. Dante Guevarra. (via )

Announcement of Suspension of Classes at the Tertiary Level in NCR

Paquito "Jojo" Ochoa, Jr. , Philippine Executive Secretary, has declared the suspension of classes at the tertiary level in NCR (Metro Manila) upon the recommendation of National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). DOST-PAGASA Recommends Suspension of Classes to College (Tertiary) Level for NCR Only

The DOST-PAGASA recommends the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) and Office of Civil Defense (OCD) a suspension of classes for tertiary (college) level tomorrow July 27, 2011. This recommendation is for NCR (Metro Manila) only. However, the Commission on Higher Education CHED has devolved the final decision on class suspension tomorrow of the college (tertiary) level to the school heads.

DepEd Announcement: No classes tomorrow, July 27, 2011

Due to the presence of tropical storm Juaning, DepEd has recently announced that there will a suspension of classes tomorrow, July 27, 2011 from pre-school to high school both public and private schools in NCR (Metro Manila).


Guidelines on the suspension of classes by DepEd:
Areas under signal #1: Classes in pre-school level in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended.
Areas under signal #2: Classes in pre-school, elementary and high school in all public and private schools will be automatically suspended.


UPDATES:
Aside from NCR, classes were also suspended in Region 3, from pre-school to high school (public and private schools).


Suspension of classes for college level depends on school heads. Class’s suspension announcement should be before 5 am tomorrow.



Storm signal number 3 indicates automatic suspension of classes in higher education.


**Classes suspended in the entire Region 4A in Preschool, Elementary, and HS (public and private).
